This popped up by accident while in the middle of a completely unrelated rabbit hole. I’d still rather have a CJ-2a but these do sound like fun.

I like them. At least here in PA, the big appeal to me is that they’re rust free, unlike most old jeeps for sale on craigslist . The major downside is that they aren’t street legal here. That’s a dealbreaker.

Any one know if there are aftermarket lift kits for these yet?

$3k extra
for an automatic trans is a tough pill to swallow for a machine that costs $16k to start.

Why in the world would you want the automatic? As the article says, the gearing is wrong, and regardless, boooooooring.

At least one, and I’m sure there are more.

I agree, but for most people who use UTVs for actual work and chores, they vastly prefer automatic.
As a toy, absolutely the manual is highly preferable.

Just put an old Willys grill, and a license plate on it and no one will know the difference

That seems risky from an insurance perspective.

You need to go the extra mile and buy an old rusted out jeep from a field, and swap on the VIN. I feel like a candidate must be available.

I said that I like the Roxor. I don’t love it, certainly not enough to commit fraud.

“Fraud”
Y eah ok, if you’re concerned, you need to cut off the old firewall plate, and stamping from the frame, and weld them onto the new firewall and frame. And if we're going to be picky, I should stop calling it a VIN, since it's only a serial number. In most states that and a bill of sale on the CJ2A gets you there.

That sounds like a lot of hassle to go through for a vehicle that I kind of like.

Indeed. Maybe for a jeep junky
